41st Annual Northwest Cherry Festival
Head to The Dalles for the 41st Annual Northwest Cherry Festival. A longtime favorite among locals and visitors alike, the festival is set in the spectacular Columbia River Gorge and showcases The Dalles’ deep agricultural heritage and Western roots. The Cherry Festival has grown in attendance, outdoor market, family-friendly activities, FUN, and 2022 is going to be even better! “This is a celebration of the blossoms, which have always been an indication of the harvest to come,” said The Dalles Chamber of Commerce President Lisa Farquharson. “We are super excited, as we are the largest per capita, sweet cherry producer, here in The Dalles, Oregon.”
This year’s theme is “I Spy The Dalles”. Yes, think back to those amazing children’s books of discovering items hidden on each of the pages. Well, we hope you find all the hidden gems and treasures in our community but most of all be looking for those hidden Cherries!
The Northwest Cherry Festival takes place in downtown The Dalles from Friday, April 22nd through Sunday, April 24, 2022. The Festival includes the Gorge’s largest parade, the KODL classic car show, the great Cherry Trail, and lots of local music and bands with Little Music City in The Dalles. “You can expect more than you can do,” said Farquharson. “You can expect a carnival with Rainier Amusements and then we also have Cherry Idol, where we actually have a competition similar to American Idol, and they get to sing-off and win prizes for cash.”. You don’t want to miss the crowning of Cherry Festival Royalty, including our Little Royals, at Mid-Columbia Senior Center’s Breakfast Saturday Morning before the parade!
The Dalles has much more to offer although the festival alone could keep you busy. Voted one of the “Top Ten True Western Towns of 2014” and one of “The 19 Most Beautiful Small Towns In America,” The Dalles is one of Oregon’s great escapes, just beginning to be explored. This historic town sits at the eastern entrance of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, just 75 miles east of Portland. With 300 days of sun a year and fantastic recreational and cultural opportunities, it’s a wonderland for cyclists, hikers, river rafters, wildflower fanatics, fishers, art lovers, history buffs, and wine aficionados. Look for other events taking place in The Dalles all week long!
The Dalles is just 75-minutes from Portland and Yakima, 2.5 hours’ drive from Bend and the Tri-Cities.
