Cowlitz County Fair and Rodeo 2021
The Cowlitz County Fair and Thunder Mountain Pro Rodeo will happen with modifications this summer, after a 2020 cancellation due to the Covid19 pandemic. The dates will be July 21 – 24, 2021 and will be open from 12:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. each day. All events will occur outside on the Event Center grounds this year, with the exception of housing 4-H, FFA, and Open Class animals in their respective barns. Because of this, there will be no Still Life Exhibits that were typically displayed inside various buildings. We look forward to welcoming those exhibitors back in 2022 and will allow entries made any time in 2020 – 2022.Another major change will be in the equestrian area. The 4-H Horse Show will be held as a “Show and Go” where one riding discipline will have a stand-alone show each day of the Fair. The horses will be hauled in by their owners and kept at their personal trailer, rather than staying in a stall for the duration of the Fair.“While we had to make some adjustments to our event this year, the Cowlitz County Fair Board and staff hope that our community will come to the Fair and enjoy their time with us. Our event holds a bit of nostalgia for so many. We are happy to be able to bring it back this year,” said Kim Bowcutt, Cowlitz County Fair Manager. As in previous years, there will be entertainment on our small stage and animal shows each day for 4-H, FFA, and Open Class exhibitors. We look forward to the KUKN Concert on Wednesday night, and the Thunder Mountain Pro Rodeo on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. Thursday night at the Rodeo will celebrate our Hometown Heroes, local first responders. The 4-H and FFA Youth Market Sale will occur Friday evening at the Fair. Saturday night, our 2020/2021 Miss Thunder Mountain Pro Rodeo, LindseyPaul, will say a farewell and the 2022 Miss Thunder Mountain Pro Rodeo will be announced.Tickets and more information will be released as we finalize the details. Our events are being planned in accordance to current Covid19 Fairs and Special Events guidelines to ensure our community and exhibitors have a safe and healthy experience at the Cowlitz County Fair.Anyone interested in being a vendor at the Fair can go to www.cowlitzcountyfair.com for an application. Volunteers and community groups that would like to be involved can call our office at 360-577-3121.——————————–For 81 years, the Cowlitz County Fair has been a nostalgic community icon. The fair brings together local 4-H clubs, FFA, livestock youth market, exhibits, and live entertainment to provide a free family event that everyone can enjoy. The Cowlitz County Fair is the largest event in our area each year, with 2017 fair attendance reaching nearly 60,000 over four days. The Fair Foundation is a 501c3 that was created so the expo and fairgrounds were still able to keep up the grounds and subsidize fair expenses. For the last 13 years, we’ve been able to provide a FREE family event for Kelso, Longview, and surrounding areas.
