Hi there! I’m Rebecca, a laid back mommy by day and line dancing, bunco champion by night. I grew up in Agua Dulce, California as the 5th child in a large family full of love (and just a pinch of crazy). In college I studied photography and graphic design, graduating from American Intercontinental University in 2006 with a Bachelor’s in visual communications. Since then I married my best friend Mikey and we started a family before moving to Portland Oregon in 2010.
I’m the kind of person who looks on the bright side of almost every situation. That’s just how I roll. I’m happy and fun, and I try and bring that out in my clients.
Let me bring out the bright side of your family.
I have always loved creating beautiful things, whether it be a pencil sketch of my favorite celebrity (I was in middle school, okay?!), or a vibrant crocheted shawl. But it wasn’t until I started doing photo shoots in High School with my little sister and her friends that I really started falling in love with photography.
Later, I became a mother and started to really appreciate family photography. I can’t even express how important it is to me to be able to look back at photos of my kids when they were little and see how much they’ve changed. I want to remember when my daughter lost her two front teeth, or when my son was two and his hair was still super blonde and thin.
But one thing that is missing for me is photos of all of us together. There are photos of my kids, and some with my husband in there that I took, but I didn’t get many good photos of all of us together, interacting as a family. I wish I had someone back then to capture us all snuggling on the couch reading books at the end of the day, or the way my kid’s faces look when we have family hugs.
So that is why I am so passionate about capturing authentic moments of families interacting and just being themselves. I’ll give families an activity to do, or small directions, but it’s mostly about the connection.
Anyone can reproduce a pose, but you can’t reproduce a moment.
I am most excited about natural light, both indoor or outdoor. My favorite lighting is a toss up between inside next to a really large window or outdoors during sunset. I love exploring to find just the right spot!
Running my photography business has given me the opportunity to spend most of my free time with my two most beautiful creations, my energetic and thoughtful nine-year-old son, Ethan, and my sweet and artistic six-year-old girl, Chloe.
