My approach to counseling involves collaborating with you to identify your goals, asking curious questions to explore possibilities, and creating a safe space for you to effectively address your personal life challenges. I work from a place of compassion and understanding to help you build on your strengths so that you can attain the personal growth and connection you desire.
I have been married for over 20 years, and am the proud mother of two teenage daughters. In my spare time, I volunteer with the PTSA at my daughter’s school as well as the district PTSA Council supporting their Parent Education Program. I am also a cat foster parent with the Seattle Humane Society.
My approach to therapy is to view yours and your child’s problem in the context of their life and relationships. I take a family system’s approach, which is client centered and focused on the goals you bring to therapy. I also take a comprehensive approach in developing a treatment plan, taking into consideration family history, physical health, educational goals/needs, current living situation, and any cultural aspects of your life. I encourage clients to work with their family and/or support network throughout the therapeutic process. I use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy and Art Therapy.
My main specialties are grief/loss, trauma/traumatic loss, anxiety and panic disorders, PTSD, adult survivors of child abuse, relationship issues, anticipatory grief and death process. My style is informed by a system’s perspective where I draw on many modalities to offer you a holistic path that is tailored to your needs and goals. I am also trained in Lifespan Integration (LI 1 & LI 2).
