Standing Tall – Fortside Brewing Company

Fortside Brewing is in the forefront of the craft brew revolution

The Craft Beer revolution is in full swing in the Pacific Northwest. Fortside Brewing Company is just one of the many breweries that recently opened up in the Portland Metro/ Southwest Washington area.  With that realization, it takes more than serving good beer for an establishment to warrant repeat visits.  Enter Fortside Brewery.

Centrally located in Vancouver and tucked away off of Andresen, Fortside is definitely a brewery leading the charge of the Craft Brew Revolution in the Southwest Washington area.  I was fortunate enough to sit down with Mike DiFabio, one of the brewers and owners of Fortside.  While talking with Mike, it was clear that the passion he has for craft beer and craft beer brewing stemmed from his years as a home brewer.  After around eleven years of home brewing, the time came to take the plunge and open up Fortside for the community.  It wasn’t just a fiscal decision either.  “Getting craft beer to the masses is the goal.”  Says Mike “We really wanted to strengthen the craft beer culture. Each Craftsmen and Craftswomen has their own unique style, which makes Craft Beer better than the big boys.”

Speaking of the style of beer.  Fortside has some of the best tasting beer in the area, and I’m not just saying that.  With 12 beers to choose from on sight, Fortside has something for just about every craft beer lover.  My personal favorite is the Couve A’licious Ale, a full bodied brown, with massive flavor and a surprisingly rich aroma.  Another great beer right now is the Ripple Effect.  I’m usually not as big of a fan of Wheat Beer, but Ripple Effect has a twist of hops that takes it to another level and hits the nose and taste buds at the same time.  I enjoyed Ripple Effect so much, that I bought my self a Crowler.

My wife’s favorite is the Barrel-Fied.  A special extra barrel aged imperial stout! Just simply delicious, a MUST for stout fans, and only available for a limited time! For a full list of their beer click Here.

Being the first brewery to receive Clark County Green Certified stamp of approval, says something about the character of Fortside, and it’s easy to see when you visit the them.  The Tap House and Brewery are both inside the same building, which is awesome, because not only are you tasting the beer, but you literally right next door to where the magic happens.  If you’re looking for something to do on a Sunday, think about taking a Fortside brewery tour.  It’s only $10.00, and with the tour you get a Fortside pint glass, a pint of beer while you’re taking the tour, and a Fortside Sticker.  Just go to their website and sign up for a tour of your own.

Speaking of signing up. When you’re at Fortside, make sure you inquire about the Fortside Loyalty Program.  It’s free to do, and you get exclusive deals and a great way to keep up with new beer on tap and special events, Like Their Beer Dinner

Here’s some even more good news about Fortside, kids are more than welcome.  If the kiddos are behaving and are deserving of a treat, buy them a round of Fortside Rootbeer,  while mom and dad sample a few of their 11 brews.  They don’t have a kitchen but the best food trucks of Clark County stop by daily, right outside their front door.  If the kids are still feeling anxious, have them check out G6 Airpark, right next door, as they bounce the night away!

Let’s end this blog with what I call, The Fortside mantra.  Because it really speaks volumes on the level commitment this brewery is taking to ensure the continue to make quality Craft Beer…

Fortside Brewing Company is all about brewing beer worth being passionate about.  Fortside produces beers people enjoy tasting, smelling and experiencing.  Beers made with local ingredients that express a local style.”
